Peterbilt Breaks Ground on New Facility

Rising demand for service prompts a Billings truck manufacturing and repair company to break ground on a new facility in Lockwood.

Montana Peterbilt began construction on its new 54,000 square foot shop Wednesday morning. Once completed, it will contain 26 full service bays to repair trucks. Owner Kevin Gustainis said it’s a much needed upgrade to help service local customers, who mostly come from agriculture.

“We have our local customers. We want to grow the business while still taking care of our local customers, and to do that we need a bigger facility that takes advantage of the guys running through town,” said Gustainis.

In addition, the company is seeing increased demand from the Bakken oil region, where some trucks wait two to three weeks to get into the shop.

Gustainis said Montana Peterbilt is in a prime location near two major truck stops on the I-90 and I-94 corridor. He said they hope to have the new facility operating by May of 2013.
