Dallas was announced as the latest city to receive the Freightliner Trucks Hardest Working Cities award. The recognition program honors cities spearheading community growth and innovation. Since its launch earlier this year, the company has awarded the title to Indianapolis, Salt Lake City, Nashville, Los Angeles, and Toronto. Dallas will be the sixth and final city honored in 2015 with more cities to be honored in 2016.
After examining approximately 400 metropolitan census areas in the United States and Canada in 11 different data categories, Dallas will receive the award due to its high productivity and growth in employment, transportation investment, and contribution to the total U.S. gross domestic product.
“The Dallas area is one of the fastest growing economies in the country,” said Brian Vostrez, new truck sales manager, Premier Truck Group of Dallas. “This is demonstrated in projects such as the DFW Airport Terminal renovation, the KPMG Plaza at Hall project and the Dallas Victory Park project.”
As part of the celebration, Freightliner Trucks will host an award presentation on November 5 at Premier Truck Group’s South Dallas location. A representative from the city will accept the award on behalf of Dallas. Workers, truck equipment manufacturers, and community leaders will be in attendance. Additionally, surprise gift deliveries will be made to several Dallas jobsites that week to thank workers for their contributions.
“Our research for this recognition program found a significant connection between cities thriving and cities investing in construction, manufacturing, and transportation,” said Mary Aufdemberg, director of product marketing, Freightliner Trucks. “We think it’s important to acknowledge cities such as Dallas that place priority on job creation and innovation.”
