Volvo Trucks Will Have Their Full Heavy-Duty Range of Trucks at the 2014 Mid-America Trucking Show
The 2014 Mid-America Trucking Show will take place from March 27th to 29th in Louisville, Kentucky. Volvo Trucks fans eagerly anticipate a full showcase of the North American Class 8 models. They will be exhibited at the no. 32125 indoor booth in the North Hall of the Kentucky Exposition Center. Models on exhibit include twelve vehicles in the regional haul, long haul, heavy haul, and vocational segments for a full span of trucking needs.
Göran Nyberg, the President of Volvo Trucks North American Sales & Marketing, hinted at the development of alternative fuels and better options for localization and customization of Volvo trucks. He stated that Volvo has already taken a comprehensive approach to its Blue-Power alternative fuels strategy and is “offering a range of engine and fuel options that consider operational and geographic needs and infrastructure realities.”
Alternative fuels can be found in the Volvo VNM and VNL models, with engines powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG). Volvo is developing an engine fuelled by the natural gas dimethyl ether (DME), as well as a compression ignition LNG engine.
In addition, Volvo has continuously expanded its lineup over the past few years. The modern truck driver wants options for better cost and efficiency. Nyberg stated that Volvo has “expanded [its] vehicle lineup with the launch of the VAH, tailored to the specific needs of autohaulers, and the VNX for heavy-haul operations. [The] most recent introduction, the Optimized Series for regional applications, brings together features proven to improve cost of ownership.”
The increased hauling capabilities are expected to be well-received at the exhibition in Louisville, KY. Below is an overview of the latest trucking showcase in all four vehicle segments: regional haul, long haul, heavy haul, and vocational.
Regional Haul: The Volvo Optimized Series models are designed to maximize fuel efficiency while hauling. They include lighter weight trucks that maintain comfort and drivability while offering weight savings of up to 1200 pounds. Models include the Optimized Series Volvo VNM 200, Optimized Series Volvo VNM 430 mid-roof, and Optimized Series Volvo VNL 630 mid-roof.
Long Haul: These trucks are made for durability and dependability. They are built for maximum payload and comfort – making it easier on drivers who frequently cross state or national lines with their cargo. These showcase models include the Volvo VNL 780, Volvo VNL 730, and Volvo VNL 670.
Heavy Haul: One of the most powerful heavy haul trucks was unveiled last year at the 2013 Mid-America Trucking Show. The Volvo VNX is meant for hauling heavy equipment and specialized loads up to 225,000 pounds. With 600 horsepower and 2,050 lb.-ft. of torque, this heavy haul truck delivers a stress free experience during any journey.
Vocational: The Volvo VHD 200 Axle Forward and Volvo VAH 430 are two tough yet nimble trucks that deliver excellent performance across vocational industries like construction and refuse management. Their dimensions are optimized for freight capacity.
Volvo Trucks North America has always been guided by company values. The heavy duty trucks on display in Louisville have all been manufactured with these values in mind. They were assembled in compliance with energy, environmental, and quality standards at various plant locations across the United States.
